Some more photos of Quasid beach

This is a very nice place for a day trip from Mumbai.135 Kms from Navi Mumbai, this place is a scenic and tranquil place. You can see two photos in my last post one is of setting sun and rising moon taken at same time in the opposite direction. while going there one can have stopover at Alibagh and see a Alibagh fort and take horse-cart ride. The food is very cheap especially non-veg food like prawn and fish. But not very wide option for hotels available.

A prayer

Dear Lord,
Every single evening
As I'm lying here in bed,
This tiny little Prayer
Keeps running through my head:
God bless all my family
Wherever they may be,
Keep them warm and safe from harm
For they're so close to me.
And God, there is one more thing
I wish that you could do;
Hope you don't mind me asking,
Please bless my computer too.
Now I know that it's unusual
To Bless a motherboard,
But listen just a second
While I explain it to you, Lord.
You see, that little metal box
Holds more than odds and ends;
Inside those small compartments
Rest so many of my friends.
I know so much about them
By the kindness that they give,
And this little scrap of metal
Takes me in to where they live.
By faith is how I know them
Much the same as you.
We share in what life brings us
And from that our friendships grew.
Please take an extra minute
From your duties up above,
To bless those who are my blogger friends.
That's filled with so much love.
Wherever else this prayer may reach
To each and every friend,
Bless each blogger friend,
And each person who comments here.
When you update your Heavenly list
On your own Great CD-ROM,
Bless everyone who says this prayer
Sent up to GOD.Com
Amen.

Donkey's life

One day a farmer's donkey fell down into a dry
well. The animal cried piteously for hours as
the farmer tried to figure out what to do.

Finally, he decided the animal was old, and the
well needed to be covered up anyway;

it just wasn't worth it to retrieve the donkey.

He invited all his neighbours to come over and
help him. They all grabbed a shovel and began
to shovel dirt into the well. At first, the
donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly.

Then, to everyone's amazement he quieted down.

A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally
looked down the well. He was astonished at what
he saw. With each shovel of dirt that hit his
back, the donkey was doing something amazing.
He would shake it off and take a step up

As the farmer's neighbours continued to shovel
dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it
off and take a step up.

Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey
stepped up over the edge of the well and
happily trotted off!

Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds
of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well
is to shake it off and take a step up. Each of
our troubles is a stepping stone. We can get out
of the deepest wells just by not stopping,
never giving up! Shake it off and take a step up.

Remember the five simple rules to be happy:

Free your heart from hatred - Forgive.

Free your mind from worries - Most never happen.

Live simply and appreciate what you have

Give more.

Expect less

That 70s & 80s Childhood in India ……

1 Though you may not publicly own to this, at the age of 5-8 years, you were very proud of your first “Bellbottom” or your first “Maxi”

2 You can also nod your heads to names like Chandamama, Champak, Lot-Pot, Nandan. The brainy ones read “Competition Success Review”.

3 You took pride in turning to the back page of your latest Amar Chitra Katha and ticking off yet another title. How many ever you ticked, you still had many to go.

4 Your “Camlin” geometry box & Flora pencil was your prized possession.

5 The only “Holidays” you took were to go to your grandparents’ or your cousins’ houses.

6 Ice-cream meant only - either an orange stick, a vanilla softy in a cone or at most – a Choco Bar if you lived in a swanky town.

7 Your first family car ( and the only one) was a Fiat. Or an ambassador. This often had to be pushed by the entire family to get going.

8 The glass windows in the back seats used to get stuck at the two-thirds down level and used to irk the shit out of you! The window went down only if your puny arm could manage the tacky rotary handle to pull it down. Locking the door was easy. You just whacked the other tacky, non-rotary handle downwards.

9 Your mom/sister had stitched the weirdest lace curtains for all the windows of the car. They were tied in the middle and if your dad was the comfort-oriented kinds, you had a magnificent small fan upfront, below which screwed to the board was the cassette player.

10 Your parents were proud owners of HMT watches. You “earned” yours after 8th or the 10th standard exams.

11 You have been to “Olympic Circus” ; have held your breath while the pretty young thing in the glittery skirt did acrobatics, quite enjoyed the elephants hitting football, the motorcyclist vrooming in the “Maut ka Gola” and it was politically okay to laugh your guts out at dwarfs hitting each other’s bottoms!

12 You have atleast once heard “Hawa Mahal” on the radio.Binaca gitmala must be favourite on wednesday 8to 9 pm.

13 If you had a TV, it was normal to expect the neighborhood to gather around to watch the Chitrahaar or the Sunday movie. If you didn’t have a TV, you just went to a house that did. It mattered little if you knew the owners or not.

14 Sometimes the owners of these TVs got very creative and got a bi or even a tri-coloured anti-glare screen which they attached with two side clips onto their Weston TVs. That confused the hell out of you!

15 Black & White TVs weren’t so bad after all because cricket was played in whites.

16 You thought your Dad rocked because you got your own ( the family’s; not your own own!) colour TV when the Asian Games started. Everyone else got the same idea as well and ever since, no one came over to your house and you didn’t go to anyone else’s.

17 You dreaded the death of any political leader because of the mourning they would announce on the TV. After all how much “Shashtriya Sangeet” can a kid take? Salma Sultana didn’t smile either during the mourning.

18 You knew that “Indira Gandhi” was somebody really powerful and terribly important. And that’s all you needed to know.

19 The only “Gadgets” in the house were the TV, the Fridge and the Mixie.

20 All the gadgets had to be duly covered with a crochet covers and sometimes even with ingenious, custom-fit plastic covers.

21 Movies meant Amitabh Bachchan. Before the start of the movie you always had to watch the obligatory “newsreel”.

22 You thought you were so rocking because you knew almost all the songs of Abba and BoneyM

23 You had a turntable “stereo” and a collection of LP Records. Your hormones went crazy when you bought “Disco Deewane” by Naziya Hassan & Zoheb Hassan.

24 You couldn’t contain your happiness when you suddenly had knowledge of Grammy awards and Tina Turner, Cyndi Lauper & OMG even Michael Jackson became familiar names.

25 School teachers, your parents and even your neighbours could whack you and it was all okay.

26 Photograph taking was a big thing. You were lucky if your family owned a camera. A reel of 36 exposures was valuable hence it justified the half hour preparation & “setting” & the “posing” for each picture. Therefore, you have atleast one family picture where everyone is holding their breath and standing at attention!

27. When you really counted down days to "Durga puja" every year.

The Power of Dreams

Monty Roberts was in high school. His class teacher asked him to write a page on what he wanted to be when he grew up. Monty invested his whole night and wrote an essay of seven pages on his dream, ‘A horse ranch in 200 acres’. He described every detail with a map, plan for the whole 200 acres along with a 4000 square foot house. The next day he submitted the paper of his dream.

Despite his hard work he received an ‘F’ with a note, ‘See me after class’. He approached the class teacher. She yelled at hiom, ‘This is an unrealistic goal. Look at yourself, your family’s economic status and llok at this goal. Unrealistic and impossible. I will give you another day’s time, think again, change your dream, come back and I will reconsider your grade.’ Monty firmly replied, ‘You keep the ‘F’ and I will keep my dream’, and walked out.

Years rolled by. The teacher along with 25 students had been to a horse ranch as a part of their field trip. Somebody came up to her and wished her. The teacher realised it was Monty Roberts. ‘Oh, Monty! Nice to see you! Are you working here?’

Monty smiled and replied, ‘No, Madam, I own this.’

His words sent a chill down the teacher’s spine. There were tears in her eyes as she said quietly, ‘Oh, Monty, throughout my life I was a dream-stealer. You had a dream, held on to your dream so strong that it is reality now.’

So dream, dream and dream. Hold on to your dreams. Keep your dream big. Make your dream exciting. Define your dream in detail. And most importantly, hold on to your dream so tightly, don’t let any dream-stealer steal away your dream.

Khandala Visit on a rainy day

My friend Rajesh Ranjan took my family and Arunagshu's family to khandala. We had a very nice time there enjoying the rain . Donot miss my daughter Khushi ( with Bandage on her hand) who had fractured her hand on the same day.

abolakara katha

Presently I am staying at Mumbai. Some days back I was searching for new hello tunes and got a very nice old song 'Kahai mana are mo bola kara kalashree mukh bare dekhiba chala re' sung by Chitta Jena. After that I have received many appreciation from my friends and relatives. Both the song and the singer are fantastic. Another song 'MO priya tharu kiye adhika sundara ' also a nice one by the same singer. I have heard that Chitta Jena is not a trained singer but he has a marvelous voice.

Cuttack, My home town

I am uploading some photos taken at my own city; CUTTACK( I donot know why British people gave so complicated spelling which ideally should be 'kataka' or more acceptable 'Katak'. People have changed Calcutta to kolkata, Bangalore to Bengaluru, Trvendrum to Thiruvananthpuram, Madras to Chennai. Bombay to Mumbai so on so forth, but I donot understand why people of Orissa( rather Odisha) are not awakened to this type of activity .
